Galway Taxis was founded in 1986 by a group of 16 taxi drivers, striving to provide the people of and visitors to Galway with a reliable, fast and efficient taxi service.
On day 1, 31st January 1986, no fewer than 47 customers were counted using the public offices on Mainguard Street. The office, formally O'Neill's shoe shop was completely refurbished to host the first city centre taxi office. Situated in the heart of the vibrant city, Galway Taxis has been well placed to see all the changes both good and bad over the last number of years. After 20 years, it was decided to re-locate to a bigger premises to cater for a rapidly expanding business. The taxi office is now a focal point at our new address at Dominick Street and is fast becoming a landmark that people use it to give directions for other shops on the street!

Bridie O'Flaherty, Mayor of Galway, is pictured sitting in one of the first taxis affiliated to Galway Taxis. The Mayor officially cut the ribbon to the office at Mainguard Street.
Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength, building
on a superb reputation as Galway's premier taxi company. The offices
on Dominick Street are perfectly located to provide a comprehensive
service to the people of Galway City and to the many visitors to the
city. The city centre offices, which are open to the public at Dominick
Street, offer a convenient location for our clients who wish to call
in and order a taxi directly.
