Galway Taxis was founded in 1986 by a group of 16 taxi drivers, striving to provide the people of and visitors to Galway with a reliable, fast and efficient taxi service.

In recent times, the well-known Galway Taxis office on Mainguard Street has moved to a brand new building on Dominick Street Lower and is now a top of the range modern Taxi Call In Office in the City, County & Country. Bridie O'Flaherty, Mayor of Galway, is pictured sitting in one of the first taxis affiliated to Galway Taxis. The Mayor officially cut the ribbon to the office at Mainguard Street.
